The battery is extinguished and cooled to below 110oC and no further propagation or runaway is present.
The Cooling Works in 3 Levels
- The TRF fluid creates an endothermic reaction, absorbing the energy that is given off from a fire as heat, effectively acting as a super coolant.
- By reducing the surface tension and disrupting the molecular structure of the fuel source by creating an endothermic reaction. Secondary suppression is delivered by creating an inert gas, in lithium specifically it will prevent any build-up of self-generating additional oxygen from the breaking down of the cathode.
- When induced into a dosing system the TRF also reduces the surface tension of the water. Making water 100% more effective.
Most water additive mixes are structured to break the surface tension of water making the water ‘wetter’ This improves the waters effect on the fire and the foam then supresses the ability of oxygen to enter the battery. Unfortunately, batteries produce their own oxygen and therefore the foam is unable to prevent reignition once the water has evaporated.
